-Atlantic surf pods-
September 23, 2017
I've just come back to reality with a hard thud, from spending a few glorious days away in Bude with Graham. We stayed in hobbit houses in the middle of a beautiful farm, with nothing but nature and some farm animals to keep us company. And after working a lot at the moment going off grid and relaxing for a few days did me the world of good!
After an hour and a half long drive to Bude through small towns and very tight country lanes, no thanks to the sat nav, we arrived to what felt like worlds away from the middle of Bude. The grounds where so stunning and well kept, it did almost feel like we where in Teletubbie land. We were shown to our pod for the next few days and it was nothing like I expected it to be, even better that the pictures we had seen on their website.
Once we opened up the large doors at the front of the pod, I couldn't wait to wake up the next morning and open the doors and lie in bed with a cup of tea looking out at the beautiful view we had.
We spent Wednesday exploring the local area and wondering along the long beach that seems to go on for miles. There is also some beautiful and quirky homeware shops in the town centre and a great fudge shop that we couldn't help but stop at and buy some yummy fudge.

The pod itself was well equipped and very clean and although we had to share our outhouse wet room with a few spiders, it's kinda what we expected when staying in the country off grid. And can we just take a moment to talk about the bed.....Holy Moly...... I'm going to go as far as saying It was the best bed I have ever slept in!! The mattress was memory foam and super comfy, the duvet was so soft and thick and even though It was a little nippy at night time it kept us really toasty and warm and getting out of it in the morning was soooo hard.
It was equipped with everything that you could need, pots and pans, plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs, cups, knifes, BBQ utensils and even a cheese greater and an electric cool box which did keep our food cold through out our stay. There was also a kettle and toaster wired into the wall inside the pod. The only means of cooking food was on a outdoor BBQ and a side gas hob, which was good enough for us and it all worked really well. It was completely off grid except the 2 usb charging points in the pod for phones ect and indoor and outdoor light. It was like camping but with a little more luxury.

Short UK breaks are my absolute favourite, getting to exploring new places and staying in some wonderful and unique accommodation. I would definitely recommend getting away for a few days and doing nothing but relaxing and exploring the local area. For anyone that's interested in the site that we stayed at here is the link- http://www.atlanticsurfpods.co.uk/ and they also have a tree house on site that you can book to stay in as well.
Have a lovely week and speak soon xx
